Taiwan-Canada PPH Mottainai program to be launched in February

The MOU of the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Mottainai program between the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) was signed on January 31, 2018, and came into effect on February 1.
The Taiwan-Canadian PPH program is under the “Mottainai” model. Under this scheme, after applicants apply for patents for the same invention in both countries, when they get positive examination results from either patent office, they are eligible to file a PPH request at the other office, thereby accelerating examination process. The cooperation program will make the patent examination process faster and more efficient, and TIPO urges applicants of requesting both countries to make full use of it.
